ICC Update #28
Of Megadrive classics and more Final Fantasy.
June 5, 2011
infinitecontinues
Having finally finished L.A. Noire (and with 100% completion and all achievements, no less) our lives were sufficiently our own again, and it was decided to capture former glories and go all out for the next ICC Update. We hit up eBay with a vengeance and, together with cheap deals at some other online retailers, managed to reel in a haul that spans over eight different platforms in our collection. Which isn’t bad, I’m sure you’ll agree?
The oldest of the games we picked up is also a perennial favourite – the sublime Flashback for the Sega Megadrive. Combining platforming, puzzles and shooty bits, Flashback felt light years ahead of its time all those years ago by dint of the fantastic animation of the lead character. We’re looking forward to seeing if it still holds up today.
Final Fantasy gets a couple of new additions, namely the Final Fantasy IV Complete Collection, which will prompt us to remove the thick layer of dust on our neglected PSP, and spin-off title Final Fantasy VII: Dirge Of Cerberus on PS2. It’s been quite a long time since we picked up any titles for either of those platforms.
We’re continuing our current fascination with the Xbox 360 (and a now-respectable Gamerscore) with four new additions – Bulletstorm, which we have already played extensively and adored, Dreamcast Collection (for Space Channel 5 Part 2, mainly) and a couple of Need For Speed titles, Undercover and Hot Pursuit. We’re already hooked on busting out speeding punks on the highway with EMPs and spike strips, although the times posted by our friends on the Autolog may well be untroubled for now.
Nintendo platforms get a little shot in the arm thanks to Little King’s Story for Wii and Breath Of Fire on the GBA, although we know very little about these two other than they are well-regarded. We also completed our numbered Metal Gear Solid collection with the fourth installment, Guns Of The Patriots.
The biggest punt has to go to Deathtrap Dungeon for the PS1, of which we know absolutely nothing about, other than being huge fans of the Fighting Fantasy novel on which we presume it is based. We could have done a little research, but sometimes we like a little mystery in our gaming too, and if that happens to revolve around a thousand dice rolls and scribbling in an Adventure Sheet, then so be it.
The full update, along with prices paid, can be found below. Looking for the entire IC Collection? Look no further.
